你好Nǐ hǎo From East Asia

19 Months And 23 Countries In!

HIGHLIGHTS OF The Past Few Months-

  • Three Incredible Months in Brazil filming the second to last chapter of the documentary.

  • Followed and filmed the life of a Brazilian boy without a family as he works and plans towards his adult life.

  • Many nights encouraging some incredible men and women with drug-addictions on the streets of Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

  • Serving Easter dinner to oppressed women.

  • Sharing the Project with a Youth Group And Church in Rio.

  • 10 days with the Wong Family in Canada

Since my last update the ‘Eloy Project’ team and I have been in Brazil, briefly in Canada for 10 days( as our Asian visas processed ) and now we have arrived safely in East Asia. The last time I was in this part of the world was back in 2010!

Brazil- Warmth, Colour and Hospitality.

Arriving in Brazil we were treated like family which after almost two years of travelling was definitely appreciated!

Thank you for all your prayers, we got the permission we needed to film and follow our second boy; what a story we found. Was a privilege to make friends with, film/follow an incredibly kind, hard-working young man, Wedick. Now we are really beginning to see a larger story form before our eyes, the pieces of the documentary puzzle are beginning to fall into place.

(As well as discovering the boy we would follow I also discovered a very special woman, feel free to ask me more!)

The team with Joachim one of our many translators and friends we made during our time in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

Canada – An Unexpected But Welcome 10 Days

After we discovered it was impossible to get our Asian visas in Brazil we found out we could get them in Canada. As crazy as it sounds it worked out actually cheaper to fly to Canada, get our visas and continue to East Asia. Staying with Kirks parents in Calgary, we had much needed rest and were treated like family. The Wongs showed us the breathtaking Canadian landscape on their doorstep. The experience refreshed our souls after many weeks of filming and gave us inspiration to finish and finish well in our final country of East Asia.

Whats Next? East Asia and then filming over…23 countries visited!

After getting our visas we’ve arrived in our final country of filming. This country in East Asia has some good policies in regards to making sure un-parented go into families instead of institutions. We hope to show this well as we follow a child’s story in the final chapter of our film. This country is the last of the 23 we will film in before beginning the six month editing phase in Canada and the U.S.
